DIVINE DIVA INTERVIEW WITH KITTEN KAY SERA

When you were starting out in your career how did you know you were making the right choice as far as pursuing that career for yourself?  

Oh I knew..for me there was no other option.  if it’s in your heart the only thing you can do is pursue your dream.

I was raised in the entertainment business. At the age of 6.. I was singing & performing with my four older sisters on stages. By 14 years old we were singing with major celebrities like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and John Travolta.

I had no doubt that, as an adult, I wanted to remain in the entertainment biz. 

I just didn’t know where I would end up ..whether that meant acting, singing or being a TV Personality etc.

When I moved to Hollywood.. my life changed. I was seen and heard like never before.

I did not have the opportunities that I am blessed to have here. Because me and my pup Pinkerbell are so visual, people are drawn to us & we have gotten casted for some amazing things. I have been on over 200 media presentations. 

Who were you biggest influences growing up?  

My mom .. she is smart and so funny and very good at promotion and opening doors. I learned everything I know from her. She is also a brilliant actress but never got the chance to break it big being where she is. Although, she and my daddy were casted for a few local commercials and featured extra parts in Texas.

I also adored Boy George and was a fanatic. I mean he changed the course of my life. I went from being a country singer to a POP performer & songwriter overnight.  Boy George let me see that it was okay to be daring with fashion. I never held back after that. Annie Lennox and Bowie were also major influences. I am drawn to the wild and wonderful. I believe music & fashion go hand and hand I always say  "I don’t want to make a fashion statement.. I want to make an exclamation mark! "

When you faced obstacles or fears along the way how did you overcome them, and move beyond them?  

I realized that fear can paralyze your career. I am pretty fearless. But I have a story about my beautiful sister Sandra (who passed away in 2013).  She was approached when we performing at a celebrity event by the producer and TV mogul Garry Marshal. I'm sure he thought she was adorable as we all did .. with her cute dimples and long brown hair. Garry asked if Sandra could act (she definitely could act ... she had appeared in TV Commercials in Texas), and Mr Marshall asked her to send her headshot and resume to him.

He also added he thought she would be great as the lead in the new TV show he was working on. The television show was Mork & Mindy!  Sandra never sent her headshot. Fear held her back. Sandra made me pinky promise to never let fear hold me back and I have not. Also if I am doubting myself, I think .. what's the worst thing that can happen? If I don't ask.. the answer is always NO. 

If you could go back in time and change anything about your life would you change anything? If so what would you change and why? 

I believe that everything happens the way its supposed to so I would have to answer that with ....I would not change a thing. 

What do you feel is your greatest achievement?

Being crowned  "The Pinkest Person In The World" by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not because there is only one ..  me! I have only worn the color pink exclusively since 1980. I take my title very seriously but at the same time I have fun with my pink passion. I am always tickled pink :) hahah!  

Also I'm very proud of my video “Queen of Pink”. I wrote the song after a fan said in a comment on Youtube "you need to write a song called Queen Of Pink”!  Well, I sat down that night and penned pretty much the whole song. It is by far the best music video that I have released.

What are the most important lessons you have learned along the way?  

If you are looking for that one person that will change your life, look in the mirror.

Manifesting works. I do it all the time. 

The more you love your decisions ..the less you need others to love them.

A dream is worthless if you leave it on your pillow. 

You can't please everyone so you have to please yourself. 

Live life and forget your age. 

You are not too old and it is NOT too late!!! 

Worrying won’t stop the bad stuff from happening it just stops you from enjoying the good. 

What do you hope others will remember most about you and your life? 

That I was The Queen Of Pink... a Pink Icon who was also talented! 

Kitten Kay Sera inspired others to be themselves and have fun while doing it. 

What is the best advice you would give other women who are not sure what path to choose in their life? 

Go with what makes you happiest. Do not listen to the doubters .. only surround yourself with people who believe & support you! 

l love the color pink .. who knew that I could actually make a living on my pink passion and my pink life?

I was told by a famous actor when I said "I want to be in TV but I only wear PINK and won't change that” and this person said  "YOU CAN ! You will just be considered a CHARACTER ACTOR & they will hire you as yourself”.

That advice saved my life. From that moment on I felt I had a chance. This was way before Reality Television was invented so now there's the fact that I can just be myself through Reality TV as well which is also PINKTASTIC!!! 

What does success mean to you? 

Success to me means making a living off your passion and truly enjoying your life to the fullest! 

Happiness IS success. Therefore I'm a huge success :) 

I hope you enjoyed this interview as much as I did. As you all know I am a pink lover and addict and when I came across Kitten Kay The Pink Lady Of Hollywood, I had to find our more about her. I was thrilled to see that someone who loved the color pink as much as I did was actually making a living doing it. So I had to look her up and was so excited to see how she was able to turn her love of Pink into a career. How fabulous is that?

I was in heaven seeing all of her Pinkalicious life especially all of her pink interiors which can be seen in the Netflix series Amazing Interiors episode 10. I hope to get to see her Pink Palace in person some day and meet the Pink Lady Of Hollywood in person. She is an inspiration and proof that whatever your passion is, you can turn it into a career that you love and share it with the world!
