INSPIRATIONAL POEM FOR ABUSED WOMEN

Hi Diva’s,

As we are getting to know one another I wanted to share a special poem with you. I’m very passionate about empowering and inspiring women and girls as you may know. But what you may not know is that I had a cousin who was abused and her life was taken away by her ex husband. During that time I wrote a few poems dedicated to abused women and girls and wanted to share one of them with you. I can’t imagine knowing what it feels like to be abused. But in the past I had mentored and volunteered with a few women and girls and one of the ways I tried to help is by sharing my writing with them. I hope that in a small way my words might help. 

Remember who you are is ENOUGH!

A Poem Dedicated To Abused Women Everywhere 

When I thought I was alone, 

you were there to hold my hand.

When my world was broken and fell apart,

you were there to help me stand.

When there was no one to tell my secrets to,

you were there to lend your ear.

When I thought I wasn't strong enough,

you were there to ease my fear.

When there was nowhere left for me to run,

your arms were open wide.

You gave me a place to call home,

when all I wanted to do was hide.

So many times you held my life,

in your heart so tenderly.

You taught me to spread my wings,

so I could finally learn to be free.

What words could I say to thank you,

for giving me the strength and courage to be me.

I know I must now show others that I survived.

I looked inside my heart and found the key, 

was always inside of me.
